About CICSS

Following many years of conversations at The Bob Beaver Memorial Shoot with fellow shooters from the Construction industry it was clear to me that there was a demand for other shoots in calendar, as well as shoots that were more accessible to those on a budget. There was also a desire by many of those who new Bob Beaver, including his son Ian Beaver to host a shoot at Bob’s home ground at Hodnet.

This is where CICSS was born and why our inaugural shoot was held at West Midlands Shooting Ground, Hodnet back in May 2019.

The founding members wanted to create a series of 4 shoots over the calendar year to which all shooting abilities from any sector of the Construction Industry could join us for a reasonable cost. We also wanted to donate some money to Industry Charities but make this part of the day ticket cost and not an additional amount.  That way we hope people wont feel “Harassed” to give to the charities on top of what they spend to attend.  We also agreed that an open book approach on the actual event costs would make participants more likely to attend these events as they are put on by the members, for the members.

We also discussed the options to have Corporate Sponsors who could buy advertising space on the www.cicss.co.uk website and newsletters in order to generate an additional “Pot” to help subsidise the ticket prices further for Apprentices as we want to encourage them to network with their peers, as well as merchants and suppliers.  These “Sponsored” places will be advertised via www.tradesintraining.co.uk and used in some promotional activity to “Prizes” for Apprentices.  Corporate Sponsors will also gain a quantity of Guaranteed Places at each shoot as we foresee these events being sold out in the future. Please click this link to find out more about becoming a Corporate Sponsor.

The Industry Charities we have chosen to partner are:

Rainy Day Trust (RDT):

The Rainy Day Trust is working towards a time when all those who have worked in the home improvement and enhancement industry have the funds they need to live.

Working alone and in partnership with other organisations the RDT provide financial and other assistance to those who have fallen on hard times.

Band Of Builders (BoB):

When Addam Smith’s mate Keith Ellick was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Addam wanted to do something – anything – to make his life a little bit easier. A plan to landscape his garden captured won the support of his fellow tradesmen and saw the project grow into a full-scale renovation of Keith’s house carried out by volunteers from across the country.

From there Band of Builders has been unstoppable, uniting members of the construction industry through the simple desire to help others. Every item of the branded workwear we’ve created helps raise money for the cause as well as uniting people in a community that has seen complete strangers go on to become firm friends.

In Summary:

The CICSS has been set up to provide four annual clay shoots for all those in the Construction Industry who wish to take part.  Whether you’re a Trade, Architect, Quantity Surveyor, Main Contractor, Merchant or Materials Manufacturer you are welcome.  As are your Friends, Family and Colleagues. The aim is to provide a Fun (But SAFE) days shooting, under tuition for Novices and some friendly competition amongst those who can shoot.  We want to see you bringing your Trainees/Apprentices along to see how our industry benefits from these opportunities to network. We also want to make clay shooting accessible as most people believe it is far more expensive to shoot clays than it is.  £80 – £120 per day is great value, especially as it includes a breakfast roll and buffet lunch at all venues.
